The Garmin Forerunner GPS series has become very popular over the last decade with serious
athletes. The series includes:
- The Garmin Forerunner 110,
- the Garmin Forerunner 205
- The Garmin Forerunner 210;
- the Garmin Forerunner 305,
- The Garmin Forerunner 310,
- The Garmin Forerunner 310XT
- The Garmin Forerunner 405
- The garmin Forerunner 410
Due to their popularity we will be reviewing all of these over time as well as many others. These
models have set the standard for gps running watches and have all but dominated the market. Of course they do have competition- The Timex Ironman series and the Timex Global Speed Trainer- but these watches have not really approached that of Garmin’s watches.
Their popularity is based on what they can do and how well they do it. They are not without flaw but they are better than almost anything else. Polar is the one possible exception but Polar emphasizes the heart rate monitors and training aids and does not really have a full GPS unit that I know of, though you can combine some of their units and get most of the features if not more than a Garmin
Forerunner. For this reason you might say they are not exactly in direct competition with each other since the focus of their products is not exactly the same.
Garmin makes a GPS for just about anything capable of motion and competitive runners and Triathletes fit the bill. The Garmin team has made a GPS series that gives the runners what they want in a running watch and listens when they complain about a feature, and then seeks to fix it.
It has been implied that Garmin may be using their customers feedback to finish developing their products in the field. Whether there is any truth to that I cannot say but if it is then it seems to be working because the Garmin Forerunner series is a fine collection of gps running watches.
Because there are so many we will be reviewing each model separately and links will be added to the above list as each review is ready. If you just click on the model you will be taken to the review page. If you have had any experience with any of the models please comment and give your feedback as it might help other visitors in their quest to find the GPS running watch that will suit their needs.
We wish you the best.

I would like to know what is the cheapest runner’s watch with a heart rate monitor, gps and a runner’s buddy program that will make sure I keep up my pace?
